MADMS Student Wins Resarch grant to Conduct Professional Paper Research!Steve Thompson was awarded the 2009 Prisoner of War Research Grant from the Andersonville National Historic Site, which is the home of the National Prisoner of War Museum. The grant of up to $1,000 provides financial assistance to support original research and writing leading to interpretive works on the history of American Prisoners of War. These research grants are made possible through the generosity of the Andersonville Trust.Steve is writing his professional paper on a group of US POWs from the Korean War. MADMS Graduate Wins USACMH Fellowship AwardMADMS Graduate Michael Doidge (2005), currently pursuing his PhD examining the corporatization of the US Army in the 1946-1964 period at Southern Mississippi State has just won a US Army Center for Military History Dissertation Fellowship to conduct sustained archival research at the CMH Collection. INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I’d just like to let you know that the Center for Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance (COE-DMHA) at Tripler has a temporary opening for an office manager, starting at 20 hours a week with a defense contractor, CACI. It’s an ideal job for graduate student or newly-graduate student. It will also give international and civil-military exposure since it entails supporting the new COE director and staff with plans for expanding COE’s mission here and abroad. As of now, we don’t have any guarantees that the position will become full-time (as is often the case in the world of defense contracting), although there are plans for COE to grow in the business and outreach realm.
